Was a minor hit for Taylor Swift recently. Looking at things in Malaysia, I won't  fault anyone if they felt that the song was written for the finance minister.

Almost a week has past, neither PM 8 or the finance minister have come up with anything CONCRETE. The potential job losses are STAGGERING.

And this is happening in almost every layer of the economy. 

Where is the plan, PM8 & Zafrul to get us out of this shit hole. 

Please, consider SENDING HOME foreign labour where possible, failing which, i fear anti foreign workers sentiment  is going to rise to levels unseen before.

If the WORST finance minister of 2016 knows this but PM8 seems clueless, this going to add unwarranted pressure on the Malaysian economy.

PM8.Sandiwara Cinta

was the lead track of Nike Ardilla's album of the same name. Known as the lady rocker, Ardilla died young in 1995,  but her 1995 album Sandiwara Cinta remains the best-selling Indonesian album of all time.

So Tony, you want to keep customers money and offer them vouchers. You want customers, who are mostly salaried men and women to make this sacrifice so that you can keep your company intact, and pay your staff.

Very noble indeed, but the next time you make such an appeal, can you answer the following questions? Financial press in Malaysia, please note...start asking intelligent questions...rakyat is WATCHING .

Tony Fernandes, below are EIGHT questions 

1) How much of the customers money is Air Asia holding? Please disclose in Ringgit terms. And how much of that money have been converted to vouchers?

2) In terms of percentage how much of that cash, contributes or will contribute to Airasia's cash holding?

3) if assuming 95 per cent of the customers agrees to allow Air Asia to keep the money, can you and your board members gaurantee that over the next 24 months, Air Asia will not lay off any staff?

4) Have you spoken to and got banks buy in to waive all interest charge on credit card, up to the date the customer actually exercise the voucher.

5)Are you and your board members willing to place 90 per cent of your personal fortune on the table, as a form of personal gaurantee to customers who accept your offer, that should they accept the offer but the airlines still goes under ..they can get their money back.

6) In the event of a route rationalisation plan that may or not take place in the future....what happens then? Basically if you no longer fly to the destination ? 

7) What if the customer accepts but dies before being able to fly....what happens to the voucher than, is it transferable to next of kin?

 8)  And if it is, can those vouchers be traded basically can i say pay my friend 500 ringgit cash now, and get his RM1000 paid for flight transferred  to my name?

Malaysia. Cracked rear view

The Malaysian politics may well be toxic, but its the covid 19 which is shaping our economy like a cracked rear view, with too many unknowns.

For starters, how is the government machinery running...especially  since crude oil is trading around US$31 a barrel. A month ago it was trading in the US$20ish level.

A US$1 drop is estimated to erase RM300 million in revenues for the government, which has a tabled budget of US$62 a barrel for this year. 

So where is the SUPPLEMENTARY budget to cushion the gaps? PM8, Azmin Ali...care to anwser ???

What Malaysia needs now is the A TEAM with a much smaller cabinet,  to help us get out of this mess, which for once is not because of what Najib did, or Tun Mahathir did.

Consider this, three months ago. The IMF was saying that 160/189  or 84 per cent of its member countries will have a positive per capita income growth this year.

Today, the IMF is saying 170 countries /189 countries  or 89 per cent of its member countries  will suffer negative per capita income growth this year.

We no longer are talking about a recession, we are looking at now at a GREAT DEPRESSION .    An event unseen by the world for almost 90 odd years. The last this happened was in the 1930s.

The United States is already  in RECESSION , and this time around we dont have the liberty like during the global financial crisis of 2008/2009, where we were  spared the worst due to ouroil reserves. Oil prices rushed to US$165 in 2008, which provided enough to keep  the country.

That  global crisis eventually drove crude oil prices to around US$85 a barrel in 2009, but it was still high and enough to keep Malaysia’s engine running.
