Inside The Malaysian Rice Conundrum : Anak dipangkau ditirikan, anak kera dihutan disusukan

MALICE is the only word, that comes to my mind if I was to describe the happenings in Malaysia's US Dollar worth, billion ringgit industry in just ONE WORD.

A malice to do harm to paddy farmers, either with intent or due to gross ignorance and in some cases a desire to please the public at large via short term solutions, that only gaurantees consistently deeper pain going forward.

AM I angry with the Selangor state Governments, populist move to READ :  subsidise imported rice purchase until year end. YOU BET I AM.

DO I understand the rationale of the Selangor state Government's move? Yes, I do, and logically too, the state administrators have to look at the interest of its voters first before anything else.

THE English word crisis has its roots from the Greek word KRISIS with the common synonyms of crisis being that of contingency, emergency, exigency, juncture, pinch, straits, and strait.

ANCIENT Greeks saw a crisis as a “separating decision, a power of judgement or distinguishing.” It was a moment of choice when one could determine different ways of progressing more clearly.

TO cut the long Greek story short, a crisis provides you an opportunity to do things differently, and expect a new growth filled outcome , rather than doing the same old things and then expecting a different outcome.

AS we know, READ : Kedah padi harvest have begun, just in time amid rice shortage and a Kedah registered voter, won't be able to use their votes to determine a state election in Selangor.

BUT if  Parti Keadilan Rakyat has serious aspirations to govern Malaysia on its own strength going forward, then all good things for Malaysia must come from Selangor.

PARTI Keadilan Raktat has missed a once in lifetime opportunity that only a crisis would provide, by failing to show Malaysia that there is a better way, perhaps a bit longer but definitely BETTER .

PAY the Kedah paddy farmers more, much more than the SHYLOCK BERNAS would ever do.

PAY the Malaysian farmers, the money intended to subsidise the imported rice in Selangor. PAY them that extra money, even if you have to go knocking on thier  doors, one by one from Kuala Perlis right up to Changlun, the last Malaysan town before Thailand
