BASICALLY, Sabah wants to break free from the constraints of a single-entity BERNAS monopoly that has long shaped the market.
IF Sabah gets its wish, the Bernas 10 year concession approved by Muhyiddin Yassin when he was Prime Minister, could lead to legal implications by way of a monetary compensation to Bernas by the Federal Government.
AND what if Sabah doesn't get its wish? It will certainly, sour the relationship between Unity Ferderal Government and its state partner in Sabah.
THIS is something ,Anwar Ibrahim cannot afford to have hovering over his head,
IT is best if the Prime Minister uses Syed Mokthar disbursement of RM195 million to BERSATU some 76 days after Muhyiddin Yassin extended the concession by another ten years, as pre tax to suspend the entire concession.
MEANWHILE in Kedah, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor wants to bully the middle man to save Syed Mokthar's arse.
THE middle men in the paddy sector currently provides machinery and cash credits to the farmer, and in return extracts a high price from the farmer. This much is true.
THE middle men can be cut of but the services provided by them have to be taken over by tbe Government, or by paddy Co operatives.
SINCE early 2000, the Government READ : has been attempting to do it, without much success. READ : Middlemen cannot be eliminated, but the supply chain can be shortened through forward integrated cooperatives among the small farmers for higher income and sustainability.
WHO should bear the responsibility? Well, a spot to start would be the agriculture minister. From 2000 to 2018, the following politicians had headed the ministry .
THEY are Muhyiddin Yassin, Mustapha Mohammed, Noh Omar, Ismail Sabri and Ronald Kiandee.
MUHAMMAD Sanusi Md Nor, should take those politicians to task for not doing their jobs. Will he do it? I doubt it, because most are either Bersatu high ranking office bearers, or non party sympathisers.
