ACT 4 : The Media : Oh Malaysia

is the classic which was  banned on RTM. The track is from the veteran Dutch singer, Anneke Grönloh.

BACK in the days when the minimum wage was RM1,100 for the Malaysian worker, it was an open secret that the 'minimum wage' for a Nepali Guard  was RM2100.

On the shore, beyond the tropical sea
You will stand to welcome me
On the shore, beneath the sky so blue
All my dreams at last will come true
Oh, Malaysia - land of glory

NOW that the minimum wage has been increased to RM1500, their actually take home pay, excluding free lodging, free transport to work is almost 100 per cent more than what a Malaysian on minimum wage in McDonald's takes home.

THE Malaysian media, at least those at the senior editorial level were aware of this happenings years ago, totally ignored them, just like how they do not report  consistently on how Singapore is ensuring it's citizens receive higher wages than unskilled foreign labour.

INSTEAD, what you are served by the printed and electronic media  are on new  graduate salaries or graduates who go and work in Singapore in unskilled jobs.

BUT what about the 17 million Malaysians,  who do not pocess a diploma or a degree? Why are they in the same minimum wage line with foreign labour that do not speak Malay?
