OR are they a group with deep rooted connections within the corridors of power,especially during the reign of PERIKATAN NASIONAL? 

AND if so, because of the great leeway they were given, were they also acting as major fund raiser for PERIKATAN NASIONAL?

TO dissect the truth, one merely need to look at the Privileges accorded to the Corporate Mafia during the PERIKATAN NASIONAL years .
